This German Albert Schuster violin bow, a soft, fluid player, was made in the 1980's in Markneukirchen. The high quality warm, mellow, somewhat sweetish tone and quality of workmanship are superior to most bows of this class - however this bow does not accet too much pressure and is useful rather for beginners and advancing players. The balance point is measured at 26.3 cm of 73.9 cm total length and feels slightly shifted towards the upper half. The octagonal stick is elastic with medium tension and of medium to soft strength at play, the stick is made of fine quality light-brown pernambuco wood, the ebony frog is nickel mounted, with a Parisian eye. A beautifully playing bow that does not allow high but allows normal pressure at play and that produces a warm, mellow sound full of character. This Albert Schuster bow complements clear, brilliant, somehwat sharp sounding violins.
