French violin Mansuy a Paris violin circa 1870. This antique French violin was built most likely in the workshops of Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (J.T.L.) in Mirecourt, the well-known center of violin making in the Vosges mountains of France. The violin, a "Mansuy a Paris" model, introduces the typical J.T.L. style with an especially beautiful and luminous, deep dark orange, antique varnish. The beautiful one piece maple back and the delicately carved scroll provide a beautiful, elegant appearance. This outstanding French violin is preserved undamaged and was completely worked-over by our luthiers and is in very good, crackfree condition, set up with new ebony parts and immediately ready to play. We highly recommend its warm, voluminous voice, that is resonant and somewhat sweet in the upper ranges.
