This antique 7/8 violin from Mittenwald was made around 1900 in best craftsman traditions of Mittenwald. A full-blooded Mittenwald quality instrument in smaller size; 7/8 violins are intermediates between a 4/4 and 3/4 that fits small-handed players. The top is made of medium to fine grained spruce and the two-piece back of mildly flamed maple, very good and visually appealing tone woods from the Mittenwald region, and their selection and craftsmanship indicate experience in the field. The quality of the luminously radiant orange-brown Mittenwald varnish is noteworthy. This antique 7/8 violin is more than 100 years old and is perfectly maintained, ready to play. Its exceptionally good, mature and clear sound combines precision, brilliance and resonance full of overtones and strength.
