This very beautiful Scottish violin was crafted by J. Clark in Glasgow at the end of the 19th century. Although it is a relatively young antique instrument, it stands out for its delicate historic appearance. The fine craquellée gold-brown oil varnish tastefully highlights the mild flaming of the two-piece maple back; applied generously, it has developed an interesting structure, wear and craquellée, which determines the character of the very sonorous violin. The carefully crafted purfling extends delicately to the tips, revealing the artisan's extensive experience, as do the beautifully carved scroll and pegbox.
