At the atelier of Antonio Monzino in Milan, Italian luthier Raffaello Bozzicrafted this interesting Italian violin – the third of his works in our catalogue – in the 1925-1930's, and it sheds light on new aspects of his oeuvre. The dynamic lines of its upper and lower bouts give the instrument a striking appearance that is rich in character and complemented by the accentuated purfling which was masterfully executed. In light of this Raffaello Bozzi violin’s assertive aesthetic, other features come as a surprise, such as the delicate fluting, the wide span in the elegant purfling and especially the narrow and exquisitely carved sound holes which were sensitively crafted down to the finest details. The interesting tight flames of the two-piece maple back reveals the premium quality of the tone woods which Raffello Bozzi selected for this instrument in good, crack-free condition. Its beautiful reddish-brown varnish is typicla for Antonio Monzino's workshop. Upon thoroughly setting it up at our atelier, we worked over the instrument which is now ready to play. We warmly recommend this solid Italian Monzino - Raffaelo Bozzi violin to demanding musicians due to its mature, powerful sound full of timbre. The price includes our trade guarantee and a certificate by Eric Blot, Cremona.
