The interesting sound of this handcrafted English violin by Jeffery J. Gilbert made in Peterborough in 1906 is a good opportunity for sophisticated musicians to attain a fine quality handmade violin at an affordable price. The violin's dynamic musical career has left marks on the instrument, and the varnish shows numerous traces from time and history. The well-chosen medium-grained spruce used for the top and wide flamed maple of the two-piece back reflect the instrument's solid craftsmanship. The aesthetically pleasing varnish of a dark red colour indicate Gilbert's care and meticulous work. As is the case with all of our instruments, it has been meticulously worked over by our luthiers and the the musical properties of this violin were evaluated by a professional violinist, who recommended its clear, strong tone, a both dark and bright voice.
