Julien Lavest violin – a beautiful French violin of the highest craftsmanship, with a certificate from Jean-Jacques Rampal
Julien Lavest – his No. 324, built in 1941 in Montlucon in the fine Stradivari style, is a superb example of the craftsmanship that was typical of Jules Lavest. The violin's design, which was crafted after a personal Stradivari model, and its flawless craftsmanship, which is clearly evident in the extremely cleanly cut sound holes, also clearly speak to its provenance from a good family. The luminous red-brown color of the transparent spirit varnish with its rich application on a golden ground highlights the strong, deep flaming of the two-piece maple back with a radiant shine. The scroll is expressive of self-confidence and individuality. This perfectly preserved, undamaged, almost mint condition Julien Lavest violin was carefully set up at our workshop and made ready to play; it develops its brilliant, clear and dominant sound with an immediate response.
