Old German violin made in Saxony in the 1940's: a very beautiful old stringed instrument made on an elegant Amatoi model that its former owners obviously loved to play. Slight traces of use indicate the intensive use by musicians. Tastefully rounded edges, soft flutings and accurately crafted purfling are good references for the educated skills of the unknown violin-maker. A rich and glossy red-brown oil varnish over a lighter ground determines the character of this old German violin and attractively underlines the flaming of the one-piece maple back. This beautiful violin was completely worked over by our luthiers and is offered with a minor table repair that has no impact on sound or stability of the violin and allows us to offer it at a reduced price, ready to play, with a warm, bright sound, that is open and rich in overtones.
