This good sounding German violin was probably made in the Meinel & Herold ateliers, it is a very typical Meinel & Herold fullsize instrument that was manufactured around 1940 in the famous Klingenthal region of Germany. A rich and glossy golden-brown oil varnish over a golden yellow ground covers beautiful tonewoods: the top is made of medium grained spruce, the tone piece back of mildly flamed maple. This attractive Meinel & Herold violin is with some signs of age and playing well preserved, undamaged and crackfree and is offered in immediate playing condition after a complete work-over by our luthiers. This old violin projects well and has a recommendable, bright and clear, warm, well-balanced sound suitable for orchestra playing.
