Old violin from Mittenwald - quality workmanship and an outstanding sound in the price range
This violin from Mittenwald in Bavaria is a clear work of solid craftsmanship, that was handmade in the early 20th century in 1960.
It is an extremely sonorous piece of work, built under the guidance of a master, which can be seen from the simpler but solid workmanship. The master's supervision, however, can be seen from the elaboration of the top and back, which also account for the violin's powerful, radiant sound. The medium-grained spruce of the top and the mildly flamed maple of the two-piece back are beautiful tonewoods from Mittenwald, characteristic of the mountain forests of the Karwendel region. The lovely red-brown varnish shows signs of playing that do not affect the quality of this flat-arched instrument. This highly recommended Mittenwald violin has a repair at the rib, which is reflected in the price. The violin was carefully set up and made ready to play in our violin-making workshop and impresses with its clear, powerful, open sound.
