An antique Markneukirchen violin by Hermann Dölling Junior (*1862 - 1923). The violin is a better quality work by the house of Hermann Dölling Jr. what is indicated by a facimile of the signature branded on the bottom plate. The model is after Maggini with double purfling and flat archings. The top is made of fine grained spruce, the one piece back of wide flamed maple. The varnish is of an especially nice red-brown color over a lighter ground. The small elegant scroll is neatly worked out with two windings. The instrument is crackfree and despite some minor varnish flaws in excellent condition. Bridge, soundpost and strings are new - the violin is in immediate playing condition. The bright warm sound is open and a bit mellow.
