Umberto Lanaro builds his instruments according to his own models, which are based on the best traditions of Italian violin making and belong to its most interesting modern expressions. First-class craftsmanship is evident in the expressive carving of the scroll, the cleanly cut soundholes and the extremely finely crafted purfling. The regular grained spruce of the top and the grooved flaming of the two-piece maple back are adorned with a richly applied orange-brown oil varnish in typical Italian style. In addition to Umberto Lanaro's label and branding, a handwritten signature and various branding marks attest to the provenance of this full-blooded instrument, which we offer undamaged and in excellent condition from first ownership.
