Johann Ulrich Eberle is considered the best violin maker of the Prague School, even before his teacher Thomas Edlinger. As a protagonist of the violin-making tradition dating back to Jakob Stainer, the master from Vils in Tyrol created instruments that still meet the highest musical standards today.

The Johann Ulrich Eberle violin on offer here is his mature, high-arched model, which at first glance reveals its orientation towards the classical model of Jacob Stainer and a deep understanding of his principles. The fine carving of the scroll, the carefully cut sound holes and the perfectly executed purfling reflect the master's mastery, who had already been established in the flourishing Prague music world for a quarter of a century at the time. The rare, exceptionally beautiful bird's-eye maple from which Johann Ulrich Eberle crafted the one-piece back and ribs adds a tasteful aesthetic accent that this top-quality instrument undoubtedly deserves: This master violin was entrusted to us for sale from the inheritance of a professional musician; its authenticity and quality are attested to by the original label and a certificate from Wolfgang Zunterer, a former director of the Mittenwald Violin Making Museum and one of Germany's best-known experts. With a few restorations to the table in the area of the left lower bout that are appropriate for the violin's advanced age - without impairing the voice and without relining - the Johann Ulrich Eberle violin is in excellent condition and has all the richness of color of its mature, sweet and characterful sound.
