This unique instrument of Southern German luthier tradition was made by Andreas Ebner in the city of Munich where it was made in 1910. The personal model is constructed with flat archings and with a slim, elegant neck. This violin by this less-known Munich violin maker features a neatly carved lion head made in the traditional Mittenwald style. The violin bears its original Andreas Ebner label and several "AE" brandstamps inside and outside. The light transparent golden-yellow oil varnish draws attention to the beautiful deep flaming of the back, the varnish is especially rich and aged with characteristic craquellee. The warm, rounded sound is even and well-balanced — clear and open in the upper ranges, somewhat dark and rounded in the lower — and invites the player to explore its colorful tonal character. The violin was completely worked over by our luthier and is offered ready to play.
