Powerful Guarnerius model by Louis Dölling jun., Markneukirchen
In 1935, this old Markneukirchen violin was made in the highly regarded Markneukirchen atelier of Louis Dölling jun. It is unmistakably a premium instrument whose provenance is confirmed by a dated original label. After the death of the atelier's founder in 1917, Louis Dölling's family continued to run the business under his good name and carry on the legacy of the cosmopolitan master. The intensely radiant oil varnish with its golden-yellow to red tones are a striking reflection of the violins's quality, which has been preserved in perfect condition and free of cracks. The one-piece back of deeply flamed sycamore maple and the delicate carving of the scroll are a testament to the experience and refined aesthetic sensibilities of its luthier. Varnish surface flaws enhance the historic character of this violin, which has a compelling and mature sound and is offered in perfect condition. Powerful and large, voluminous and dominant, its voice fulfils soloist standards. It was meticulously set up by the specialists in our atelier and is now ready to play.
