This Neuner & Hornsteiner violin, a Strad model that has a mature, clear tone, was made in Mittenwald in approximately 1860. The violin bears the original Neuner & Hornsteiner maker's label - "Neuner & Hornsteiner in Mittenwald", which has partially been voided for unknown reason. The varnish is a dark bordeaux red-brown Mittenwald varnish over a yellow ground, in good condition with some marks, minor flaws and wear witnessing the high age of the violin.
