In the time around the turn of the century, the violins by Johann Baptist Schweitzer were highly appreciated internationally due to their excellent musical qualities, and especially in the violin making region of Markneukirchen many violin makers and manufactories imitated his style. The antique violin offered here was crafted in one of these master workshops after J. B. Schweitzer patterns, and indeed it is a very successful, beautiful violin with a strong and warm, bright sound. The solid skills of the unknown violin maker are evident in the elegant scroll, the luminous varnish, purfling that was executed close to the edges and the golden-brown colored varnish that features tasteful antique touches. Our luthiers spent time and effort to work over this attractive violin that is preserved undamaged in perfect condition, a convincing instrument with a bright, mature voice, that is strong rich in overtones - and like all instruments and bows from us immediately ready to play.
