This interesting historic French violin by a member of the Charottefamily has a delicate body with narrow, small contours, making it an excellent recommendation for musicians with smaller hands who want to satisfy the highest professional demands in terms of sound. This interesting master violin was crafted around 1820 in Mirecourt, by a member of the Charottes, a wide-ranging family of violin makers. The tasteful aesthetic of this instrument is defined by the powerful colour and high patination of the golden-brown base coat, and the reddish-brown varnish with a historic patina creates interesting accents and a charming interplay between the eye-catching irregularities of the spruce top and the beautiful flames on the two-piece back of premium maple. The high table, meticulously executed margins and delicate sound holes reflect the work of a well-trained and experienced hand, a craftsman who gracefully carved the large, upright scroll as a self-confident statement. The violin’s previous owners showed it great care, as is evident by the some older table repairs to the left side of the table, not inthe bassbar region. These solid repairs, which explain the affordable price of the instrument, have kept the violin’s exceptionally good sound in superior condition. It was set up and made ready to play at our atelier, and its large, warm, mature voice is compelling with its perfect response and melodic resonance. Suitable for professional and solo performance.
