This interesting early violin bow was made in the mid 19th century around 1850 (or earlier) and features a convincingly balanced weight distribution and a well-centered balance-point that makes it perfectly suitable as a classical bow. Old and exceptional, light-brown colored pernambuco wood of finest quality was chosen for the octagonal stick, that features good stiffness and useful elasticity. The head is a remarkably tasteful work. It is quite conceivable that this early violin bow once had an ivory frog, which was damaged in the course of history and replaced by the present modern ebony frog in the 20th century. After a complete work-over in our atelier we offer this interesting violin bow ready to play, with a special recommendation for its handyness, and its warm, somewhat mellow, bright sound.
