This violin bow is a very successfull work that was crafted in the late 19th century in an unknown workshop of Markneukirchen, the center of instrument making in Saxony. Red pernambuco wood was used for the elastic, octagonal stick that is especially beautiful. The nickel mounted ebony frog has a mother-of-pearl slide that is shimmering in nice green and golden colors, and wide mother-of-pearl eyes. The small and slim head is a fine, delicately carved work. The balance-point of the bow is measured at 25.6 cm and percieved near the middle, slightly towards the frog; the total length is 74.3 cm, the weight 59.2 g. This antique German violin bow is our special recommendation, due to its excellent quality and to its sophisticated, dark and mature sound. This bow would well complement a bright, clear, somewhat sharp sounding violin.
