Fine W. E. Hill & Sons violin bow made by Frank Napier, who worked at W.E. Hill & Sons from 1900-1930

This fine English W. E. Hill & Sons violin bow was made early in the 20th century around 1910-1920 by Frank Napier, a fine bow maker initially trained as a piano tuner who was working - together with his father William Napier - from around 1900 - 1930 at W. E.Hill & Sons, London. This fine violin bow is a masterpiece in pristine conditon, that shows hardly any signs from playing. The flexible round stick is made of finest red-brown pernambuco wood. The ebony frog is sterling silver mounted with a Parisian eye and silver adjuster. The head plate is typically for the WE Hill bows of sterling silver. This fine violin bow projects instantly and produces a warm, large tone of clarity and volume. The balance point feels perfectly centered in the hand and is measured at 25.9 cm inlcuding the length of the adjuster. This fine Frank Naper violin bow bears several original stamps and markings on shaft and headplate. With a certificate issued by the renowned expert Hieronymus Köstler, Stuttgart.
