An old German violin with a carved pegbox and ornate purflings. The instrument is a good antique German piece of work made around 1900 by Franz Pfaff, Kaiserslautern. The model is after Da Salo. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of flamed maple. The double inlaid purfling is worked out into ornates on the back. The pegbox with beautiful wood carvings and an unsual scroll. The old violin is completely undamaged and perfectly preserved. The violin is luthier-set up with a new bridge, soundpost and strings and can be played right away. The well-balanced sound is warm, medium dark with a mellow untone.
