Hopf violin from Klingenthal - a typical example of the famous Hopf ateliers in every way

The look of this Hopf violin is so distinctive; the characteristic “angular” model of the body and the unmistakable aesthetic of the varnish eliminate any remaining doubt. A closer study of this orginal Hopf violin reveals a more individual profile, however: one that was richly inspired by an Italian master whose influence is especially apparent in the opulently executed edges. The previously attached neck is typical of Klingenthal violin making around 1800 and the transitional period into modern instruments. The historic character is further enhanced both by patina and craquellation of the varnish, some flaws (a small optical flaw at the scoll and a short repair at right soundhole) and by the big, warm, powerful sound the violin has developed, a trait which gives historic stringed instruments their unique mature depth. We are offering this beautiful Hopf violin with minor repairs considered in the price in very good condition; we have worked over this violin completely, which is now immediately ready to play!
