Swiss master violin by Robert Reinert, a well-played instrument with excellent sound characteristics which serves as a true reference work of modern Swiss violin making, whose leading figure - the Apian-Bennewitz student August Meinel – also trained Robert Reinert, a luthier who hailed from Hagen, Germany. Together with renowned masters such as Fritz Baumgartner and Adolf H. König, who eventually went on to become the director of the Liestaler violin making school, Robert Reinert was one of the formative personalities of his guild in Switzerland, to which he contributed various technical innovations thanks to his initial training as a precision mechanic. The violin offered here, however, presents Robert Reinert as a first-class classical craftsman and interpreter of the classical Stradivari model, for which he selected exceptionally beautifully grained tonewoods with outstanding acoustic characteristics. The medium grained spruce of the top and the delicately flamed maple of the one-piece back are covered by a richly applied golden red varnish, which shows interesting traces of intense use by outstanding musicians. Robert Reinert set fine accents of his personal style in the year 1940 in the precisely worked, quite broad purfling and the perfectly executed and deeply carved scroll. The self-confident appearance of this crackfree violin which is perfectly preserved and now ready to play reflects its bright, radiant sound, the volume of which opens up appealing musical options for discerning soloists.
