This premium historic violin from Mittenwald in Bavaria clearly and unmistakably expresses its heritage from the violin-making town of Mittenwald, where it was commissioned for Max Amberger's renowned Munich workshop around the turn of the century. In keeping with the good reputation of a supplier to the royal Bavarian court (an honour which the company had earned with its famous zithers), Max Amberger's ateliers emphasised flawless craftsmanship and solid playing characteristics, both of which this violin has. Its transparent, light-brown varnish has developed an interesting patina which complements the aesthetically reserved style of the well-selected tone woods. The large, narrow scroll is a self-confident reflection of the instrument's provenance from the Mittenwald school. Now that the violin, which has been kept in top condition, has been carefully set up by the specialists in our atelier for restoration, it is ready to play and we are pleased to offer it with the original Max Amberger label. Its powerful, radiant and bright sound is highly recommended — brilliant, rich in overtones, resonant and soloist.
