Oswald Möckel and his son Otto Möckel were regarded as Berlin's finest makers and only very few instruments so clearly communicate their creator's "handwriting" in the way this elegant violin does. Crafted in 1908 in Berlin, this rare 7/8 violin by the father Oswald Möckel has a label signed by the master himself and dated, one of the last years of Oswald Möckel's life. This fine 7/8 violin has survived the war in nearly pristine condition. Oswald Möckel created the finest of replicas, predominantly of old Italian masters. Beautiful tone woods of the highest quality are luminous under a wonderful golden-yellow varnish. The body of this fine 7/8 master violin has exquisite lines and is highly responsive, expressing the outstanding tonal qualities of this master violin, which has a somewhat smaller size that is ideal for players with smaller hands. The sound is large and mature, powerful and resonant, bright, rich in overtones and dynamic. This rare, professional grade violin comes with a certificate of authenticity by Andreas Kägi, Berlin.
