Violins from the well-known house of C. A. Wunderlich in Siebenbrunn near Markneukirchen, Saxony, consistently attract our attention due to their excellent quality. The unlabeled violin offered here is a typical example of their instruments and was built approx. 1920. C.A. Wunderlich was an important instrument merchant, who purchased his violins from the best masters of the "Musikwinkel" region in Southern Saxony and Northern Bohemia. This piece is a good sounding example of good craftsmanship, too, the clear work of an experienced violin maker, who refrained from attaching his own label. Medium grained spruce and intensively mildly maple, premium quality tonewoods, were chosen for the instrument that reveals excellent standards of craftsmanship by the well-designed and precisely crafted arching. Light-brown varnish was applied over a golden-yellow ground and determines the attractive appearance of the violin, that features accentuated edges and is preserved in undamaged condition. With some signs from playing but no cracks, it was thoroughly worked over by the violin makers in our workshop and is offered ready to play.
