This antique Vogtland master violin, a true masterpiece, was built around 1800 and makes no secret of its Vogtland heritage: with its typical and slightly “angular” silhouette and its orange-brown varnish, this instrument is an outstanding representation of the fine tradition established by Caspar Hopf and his successors in the Vogtland region. The master who created this instrument applied his brandtsmap on the upper back and great care and experience to the excellent tone woods he selected: mildly flamed maple was used to create a one-piece back with an exceptionally interesting mild grain. The spruce of the top has a fine grain with an appealing texture. The varnish is heavily worn on the table, and with its charming patina and traces of use reflects the approximately 250 years of the instrument's history. Mature craftsmanship is evident in the well-carved sound holes, a soft and pronouced high arch and the delicately made purfling. Some old small restoration to the scroll has no effect whatsoever on the sound or the playing characteristics. This Vogtland master violin's warm and clear, colorful sound that is suitable for professionals and demanding players will win you over. The violin has been meticulously worked over and approved by the violin makers at Corilon and is offered ready to play.
