This interesting old stringed instrument is an early 19th century premium-quality violin from the French violin-making village Mirecourt. It was crafted around 1820 by an unknown master and clearly spent a great deal of time in the hands of good musicians: intense traces of use on the top bear eloquent witness to the outstanding acoustic qualities which have shaped this instrument for over a century. Its warm, yet radiant and clear, dark sound features a mature character and is of beautiful strength. The attractive spruce top with its moderate grain and the deeply flamed sycamore maple of the one piece back were handled by a talented craftsman; the large French scroll is also a defining hallmark of this violin's remarkable character. We offer this outstanding instrument to you in perfect condition, and like all Corilon instruments worked over by our luthiers, who made it ready to play.
